Microsoft Research Demos Their Translating Telephone Project

There are many translating devices and services that primarily take written text in a chat window, and attempt to translate it into different languages.  For example, one I use is VoxOx.  What if there was a way to have a near-real-time phone conversation, while the whole thing was being transcribed and translated?  Microsoft Research is working on such a project, and they showed TechFlash a demo of it.  Now, of course it isn’t perfect, but it is very close.

Will this be included as part of Project Natal?  Hmmmm…
