Check out Wired Magazine’s post on 10 Sci-Fi Weapons that Actually Exist:
The 10 rundown:
- XM-25 grenade launcher (I would say the XM-8 is the stocking stuffer for next year)
- Armored ROV’s (Aren’t they cute, until you have a 50 cal up your 6)
- Active Denial System (Millimeter-wave radiation- also does pancakes in your pocket)
- Long Range Acoustic Devices (How to make someone pee themselves in 30 seconds or less)
- UAV’s (Like war, but from your couch)
- Improved Flash Bang Grenade (using aluminum particles)
- TASER Shockwave system (currently being deployed on my front lawn- I’m talking to you squirrel)
- Bedazzler (DIY non-lethal weaponry- or a quick way to lose friends)
- Ocular interruption devices (i.e.- blinding someone with frikin’ “laser” beams)
- The Boeing Laser Avenger (a AN/TWQ-1 with a Directed Energy Weapon retrofit)
My personal favorite: the Boeing Laser Avenger. I wonder if they would throw a (DEW) right on my Chrysler Town & Country… one could only dream. Certainly would cut down the amount of people cutting me off.
