Blackberry Storm 2 9550… disappointing

A BB Storm 2 review has been posted on YouTube. I am not trying to hate on BlackBerry, but they make it so damn easy. I don’t get what the Software OS group at RIM have been up to the last 4 years. Seriously, just look at the Palm Pre and realize, your UI looks craptastic.
Apple’s iPhone is getting a little dated, in comparison to Pre, but at least it is clear to navigate the settings and preferences, as well as having bright icons that are easy to identify. The BBS2 is just plain ugly. This may be in part why I hear of so many people who buy BB’s (many are given them for work) being unhappy and uninspired by them. One friend thought that he would finally find happiness if he upgraded to the Tour 9630. Simply getting new hardware would solve all of the problems with his old one. #Fail But what are the alternatives? The Pre?… Maybe, but it is on Sprint exclusively, right now. iPhone?… battery life and initial entry cost PLUS AT&T’s bad reputation, it puts people off despite being a decent Mobile platform. Android?… Tech that is too detached and complex for the average consumer (like my Mom).
So, the blackberry, with its U2 commercials and Verizon service base, gets the bulk of the market despite having a bad product line and a horrifically dated Mobile OS. Like the average consumer who buys that 500:1 contrast “HDTV” “deal” they have no idea what constitutes a good phone. Sadly, those who do know the difference, are usually too ideologically bound to try any other OS/hardware platform.
I am pleading with RIM, make an amazing phone, please! It will make the industry move forward and force us to be a little closer to what South Korea is 3 years ago. The problem is, the Storm is the phone that should have come out 2-3 years ago. Honestly, it makes them look either lazy or ignorant.
My current Curve is crappy. The Storm 1 was absolutely a disaster. The Storm 2 looks like an upgraded disaster, based on the horrible OS of the old Storm. I really hope that the OS is refreshed, soon.

Shani and I got the new MyTouch3Gs running Android cupcake (1.5). It is extremely easy to use right out of the box. Shani was able to navagate and do a lot on it without my help. i am having a blast with how easy everything is and etc. Especially coming from a phone that was running windows mobile 4.5. I think your mom would do fine!
I agree about blackberries though.
