InvisibleSHIELD on my Unibody MacBook Pro

Last night I applied the Zagg InvisibleSHEILD on my 3rd Gen MBP. It went pretty well. For those of you who don’t know what this product is, InvisibleSHEILD is the ballistic super plastic that protects you from incoming gamma radiation, bullets, Stark Industries tech, Tachyon Beams, obnoxious stares from the n00b who’s box you pwned, and the power of puppy cuteness.
No, seriously, it is a super protective “sticker”, for the lack of a better word, that you apply to the surface of your machine/iPhone/iPod/phone/etc. that prevents scratches or other minor surface abrasions from occurring. I used this on my MBP 15 and I decided that this would be a good idea for the new portable in the family.
Now, originally I went to the site, used the standard selector on the front page. This got a little confusing, and I don’t think I am a web slouch. I saw “Apple MacBook 13 inch 2nd Gen Unibody” and ordered it. Once it arrived I realized there must have been a “3rd Gen (with the SD slot & no removable batt) entry. I went back to the site and aaaaaaaall the way at the bottom, there was a 3rd Gen entry. Why it isn’t at the top, or why it isn’t more descriptive, I don’t know. Without a ‘return for swap’ policy, I had to buy an entirely new one, and sent the old one back simultaneously. A little inconvenient, but I like the product, so whatever.
Got the product in the mail yesterday, and all went well. Lots of tense moments in the application phase, understandably. And an awful lot of wondering how the keyboard piece will end up being set properly. One recommendation, keep the trackpad piece in, I don’t use it b/c I like the tactile surface of the trackpad, but loosen the corners so you can take it off after set, but it helps with the stability of the sheet.
So, now that the product has set, it looks very good! A millimeter or two of over hang on one corner and around the screws, a few tiny air bubbles, but a great job, if i must say. I would absolutely recommend this product. The long term benefits far outweigh any difficulties in ordering and setup. Also, I had to take one piece off of my 15″ MBP when my hard drive failed, b/c there were no holes for screws in that one, like there are now. It was nice to know that it didn’t leave any residue on the surface of the machine if you have to remove it for some reason. Plus, it looks nice and shiny, now.
BTW, thanks to mitch625 for the video showing his application on a 2nd gen 13″ MBP:
